Fostering Global Solidarity with Prisoners Amid Genocide
About ASRA:
On August 14, 2013, the establishment of the European Alliance was announced
More than fifty Palestinian trade union and political figures from over 15 European countries joined forces to intensify and expand solidarity campaigns for the freedom fighters imprisoned by the occupation.
The Alliance was officially registered on February 2, 2014, as an independent, non-profit, and tax-exempt association with German courts and financial authorities.
The Situation:
The issue of prisoners is a central concern for the Palestinian people and their supporters.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and Arab brothers and sisters have experienced the bitterness of imprisonment in Israeli prisons. Thousands of them remain detained without being recognized as prisoners of war or granted their rights under the Geneva Conventions, international laws, and human rights organizations.
Some of these prisoners have endured inhumane conditions for decades, while others have lost their lives behind bars. Thousands of children, elderly people, and women remain imprisoned solely for resisting the occupation, a right granted to them without restriction under all international norms.
We see it as our duty to remain loyal to these prisoners, who burn like candles to light the path of freedom for their Palestinian people. Therefore, we decided to establish ASRA - The European Alliance in Defense of Palestinian Detainees.
Our Goals:
Support all prisoners in occupation prisons and provide material and moral assistance as allowed.
Support released prisoners and the families of prisoners, especially in medical and humanitarian areas.
Collaborate with various organizations that advocate prisoners' rights.
Carry out continuous media and political lobbying campaigns in multiple languages across Europe to secure the release of prisoners.
