Dr. Hamad is the founder and General Co-ordinater of ASRA: The European Alliance in Defence of Palestinian Detainees

Geir Kjell Andersland
Andersland is a lawyer and Chairperson of the Committee of Children`s Rights in The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), Norway.
He is also a member of PIM (Palestinian Children in Israeli Military Prisons).

A significant milestone was the appointment of Jewish progressive lawyer Felicia Langer as the first Honorary Chair of the Alliance. Langer passed away in 2018.

Board Members

In 2018, British parliamentarian Chris Williamson was appointed Honorary Chair of the Alliance. He stepped down in 2025 and is currently a member of the Workers Party of Britain.

Peter Eisenstein
The current Honorary Chair of the Alliance is Peter Eisenstein.
He is Deputy Chairperson of the Norwegian political party Fred og Rettferdighet - FOR, and board member of the Norwegian Palestine Committee, Oslo.
