Masa Ammar Hassan Ghaza
“‘My spirit is very strong”
This afternoon, I visited Damon Prison in Upper Carmel to meet with prisoner Masa Ammar Hassan Ghazal (born 16 August 2002), a university student and graduate in public relations and communications from Nablus.
She told me about her cellmates in Cell No. 4 (Reham Musa, Bushra Qawariq, Tasnim Odeh, Walaa Hutri and Sara Hamshari) and the other prisoners.
She told me the details of her arrest: at 1:30 a.m. on 28 April 2025, “15-20 male soldiers, accompanied by two female soldiers, searched me, tied me up brutally, blindfolded me, and took me to Hawara, then to Ariel, to Hasharon Prison, and from there to Damon.”
The conditions in Damon Prison are very bad. The female guards treat us badly, beating and shouting at us all the time. The food is poor, sometimes eggs, tomatoes, rotten cucumbers and milk that smells bad, and the portions are very small. There are few changes of clothes, a tragic lack of prayer items, and no privacy.
She was handcuffed during the visit (restrictions and harassment after 7 October).
Medical negligence is rampant, and the treatment is: ‘Drink water, and at best, take an Acamol tablet.’
We don't have watches, they deliberately mess up prayer times, there are Qurans for all the girls, and rooms without Qurans.
Two bars of soap per room per week, no hairbrushes or mirrors, punishments for going up and down, and constant insults and abuse from the guards.
She tells her father, ‘Every day we pray at night before dawn, we read the morning prayers,’ she reads Surah Al-Baqarah every day, as well as 7 surahs: Al-Dukhan, Al-Sajdah, Al-Rahman, Al-Waqi'ah, Yasin, Al-Mulk and Al-Hashr.
She tells everyone, ‘My spirit is very strong, and I am optimistic about the girls.’
She asked for letters and greetings to be delivered to her family, to Halima, ‘I went to room 5 and saw what she was writing on the wall,’ and to her friends Masa, Aseel, Nour, Nahla, Ghada, Sajood, and her aunt Nevin.
She also sent messages of reassurance to the families of Tasnim Odeh, Reham, Aya and Walaa al-Houtri.

”روحي قوية جدًا“
زرت عصر اليوم سجن الدامون في أعالي الكرمل السليب لألتقي بالأسيرة ماسة عمار حسن غزال (مواليد 16.08.2002)، جامعيّة، خرّيجة علاقات عامّة واتصال، من نابلس.
حدّثتني عن زميلات الزنزانة رقم 4 (ريهام موسى، بشرى قواريق، تسنيم عودة، ولاء حوتري وسارة همشري) وباقي الأسيرات.
حدّثتني بتفاصيل الاعتقال؛ الواحدة والنصف بعد منتصف ليلة 28.04.2025، "15-20 مجنّداً، ترافقهم مجنّدتان، فتّشوني وربّطوني بوحشيّة وعصّبوا عينيّ، وأخذوني لحوارة، ومنها إلى أريئيل، إلى سجن هشارون، ومنه إلى الدامون".
الوضع في سجن الدامون سيّئ جداً، معاملة السجّانات دِفشِة، ضرب وصياح كلّ الوقت، الأكل بقوليّات، أحياناً بيض/ بندورة/ خيار خربانين والحليب طالعة ريحته، وكميّات قليلة جداً، غيارات قليلة، نقص أواعي الصلاة مأساوي، وما في خصوصيّة.
كانت مكلبشة بالإيدين وقت الزيارة (تشديدات وتنكيل ما بعد السابع من أكتوبر).
الإهمال الطبّي صارخ، والعلاج: "إشربي ميّة، وبأحسن الحالات حبّة أكامول".
فش معنا ساعات يد، بخربشوا أوقات الصلاة بشكل متعمّد، مصحفين لكل البنات، وفي غرف بدون مصحف.
صابونتين للغرفة لكلّ الأسبوع، فش مشاطة شعر وفش مراية، عقابات عالطالع والنازل، وكلّ الوقت مسبّات وشتائم من السجّانين.
تخبر والدها "كل يوم بنصلّي قيام ليل قبل صلاة الفجر، بنقرأ أذكار الصباح"، تقرأ سورة البقرة يومياً، وكذلك 7 منجيات؛ الدخان، السجود، الرحمن، الواقعة، ياسين، المُلك والحشر.
خبّر الكل: "نفسيّتي كثير منيحة وبفائِل البنات".
طلبت إيصال رسائل ومعايدات للعائلة، ولحليمة "رحت على غرفة 5 وشفت شو كانت تكتب ع الحيط"، ولصديقاتها ماسة وأسيل ونور ونهلة، وغادة وسجود، وخالتها نيفين.
وكذلك رسائل طمأنة لأهل تسنيم عودة، ريهام، آية وولاء الحوتري.
