Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya is a Palestinian pediatrician and neonatologist who served as the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the Gaza Strip from February 2024.

On December 27, 2024, Dr. Safiya was arrested during a forced evacuation of the hospital by the IDF.

Since his detention, he has been held without charge or trial at various Israeli facilities, including Sde Teiman detention camp and Ofer prison.

ASRA recently initiated a postcard campaign in the hope of pressuring the Israeli government to release him. While there was little chance of the postcards actually reaching Dr. Safiya, the return of many of the postcards by Israeli authorities show that they have received our message that Dr. Safiya has not been forgotten.
